CHRISTINE PHOENIX GREEN is a practicing Spiritual Director, Dream Guide and Dreamworker, an INSIGHT Intuitive Guidance practitioner, Retreat/Workshop Creator and Facilitator, Herbalist, Astrologer, Gardener, and Music/Piano Instructor.
She was originally trained in spiritual direction and contemplative retreat work at Our Lady of Peace Spiritual Life Center in southern RI, a program which merged spirituality, psychology and the arts, to produce a rich and vibrant approach to the unfolding of each person’s sacred and unique expressive Soul Life.
In the years that followed, an adventurous spiritual path of study and experience added to that “curriculum” in seeking the wisdom of other traditions, usually a-cultural, through the fields of evolutionary astrology, folkloric herbalism as a healing practice, the study of the archetypes in dreams and fairytales as well as psychology, the traditions of the Divine Feminine and indigenous or earth-based spiritualities, gardening, natural foods and sensuous cooking, the tarot as an archetypal tool, dance and music.
For over 40 years, Christine has been teaching music/piano on a daily basis to students ranging from 6-90 years old and has enjoyed accompanying her students in the rich and rewarding experience of making music for pleasure and self-expression. At present, she is longing to be making music herself on a special Celtic harp in her living room that awaits equal time with the piano.
Believing that the arts and creativity are an important part of the spritual and Soul life, she also belongs to several dance societies and enjoys the community and liveliness of the Irish Set Dancers, the English Country Dance Folks and the energy and playfullness of the variety of contra dance events that seem to pop up in many local areas.
She has been a featured writer for the website http://www.midlifejourney.com, and is a prolific writer on various metaphysical and spiritual topics such as Sacred Presence, Creative Prayer, Incarnational Spirituality (claiming and living your Authentic Identity and Destiny), The Divine Feminine, Nature and the Spirituality of the Earth. She has been working in the fields of music, personal creativity and Sacred Unfolding for over 30 years.
She has offered a two-year program at the Unitarian/Universalist Community of South County, called “Spiritual Deepening: Living a Soul-filled Life”, co-teaching with Rev. Betty Kornitzer and for almost 9 years 10 years, an instructor/lecturer in Dreams and the Imagination: Doorways to Creativity and the Arts and a variety of created “Retreats in an Academic Setting” at the University of R.I. Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
Christine is “The Greening Spirit” here on wordpress.com and is dedicated to living a life full of “Veriditas”, or the greening power of creation and the Soul…and it has been her joy for over thirty years to encourage and accompany others who long to do the same.
Christine is a year round instructor in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (college for people over 50!) and the University of RI, teaching a variety of created course which include Dreams and Dreamwork, Imagination and Creativity, Hildegard Bingen, Your Words Create Your Life Experience, Three Path(plus one) to Inner Peace inspired by the poem/blessing “Matins” by John O’Donohue and this semester a course in art and monastic wisdom inspired by Chrisine Valtner’s wonderful book “The Artist’s Rule- Nurturing Your Creative Spirit Through Monastic Wisdom”.
And let’s not forget what’s most important- Christine is Mother of Lisa and Melissa, Grandmother to Giana, Owen, Aiden and Grandoggies Magnus, Emma Rose, and Bear!
